Morning all.
How are you all doing?
Ooh it’s been hot here in the UK with temperatures registering the highest ever in June! It’s has been almost unbearable but I still managed to do two gym classes yesterday and did a clean at the AirBnb which was extremely hot! Home to get a bit cooler, by doing the ironing lol. The evening was better after a cold bath and a glass of fizz!
It’s been way too hot for me to take any photos over the past couple of days - so today I’ll share an insight into my Saturday night which was spent in London at Gordon Ramsey’s Lucky Cat restaurant in Bishopsgate.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
David and I caught the train from home and arrived in Victoria with plenty of time to have a wander and a couple of drinks. We took a couple of small bottles with us to have on the train and before long we’d arrived in London and were heading to the underground. David had checked the journey and knew we needed to travel on either the circle or district lines. We arrived at The Monument stop and walked until we found a pub. Now the restaurant is situated in the heart of the financial district which is buzzing in the week but obviously on the weekend it’s very quiet. Most of the pubs close early which was the case for The Ship, that closed at 6pm. It’s a really old public house that can be found nestling in a little alleyway surrounded by great big modern skyscrapers, it really is strange to see the contrast but I loved the atmosphere and the whole setting.
After another pit stop en-route to the restaurant we arrived at the venue. We were greeted by an almost outrageous number of staff who guided, helped and advised us just where to go and what to do. Finally we arrived on the 60th floor after changing lifts and walking through two other restaurants and the views were breathtaking. You get a full 360 • view of the city of London and I marvelled at seeing The Shard, Tower Bridge, The Thames and loads of other exciting landmarks. If you’re thinking of going the views are stunning. However the meal itself was a little underwhelming!
Now I say underwhelming but what I mean is had the whole cost been different it would have been amazing but I’ve eaten similar quality or even better in other tea and paid much less for it! If you go be prepared for a big bill!!!
So let me tell you what we ate.
Cauliflower Tempura with GFC - Gordon’s Fried Chicken in Hot Korean Miso - this was amazing!
Sushi selection - Mixed.
Egg Fried Rice - which was mixed at the table.
Enough said! ðŸ¤
Mango & Sake Cheesecake
The sunset was also striking. It was mid June so it didn’t set until quite late and as we left fairly soon after I took this shot we didn’t get a chance to see London in the full glory of twinkling lights and specific landmarks lit up! I don’t even think there’ll be a next time!
Finally before we start the link up, have you been watching the World Cup? I’ve recently received this fab little goody pack for all things football including a wall planner, Tee Shirt and bag, face paints, a car flag and a box of tissues for the inevitable heartbreak England fans will probably have to endure! Sorry to be so cynical!
Have a look for yourself at this little pack and view the other items BagKraft offer, you will possibly recall the gift bag I shared when my daughter went to Glastonbury.
